LEUKEMIA is a life threatening, malignant disease(cancer) that originates in the bone marrow and causes it to produce immature, functionless blood cells. It is the #1 killer of children and strikes ten times the number of adults.

Lymphatic system is the filter for the body. When immune (white blood cell)tumors occur throughout the lymph nodes and lymphatic organs in unpredictable patterns, this is known as NON-HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA.

I have joined Team in Training, a group from the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY that trains to complete a marathon, century ride or triathlon while raising money for research, education,patient and family services. I have committed to participate in the Suzuki Rock "N" Roll Marathon, June 06th, in San Diego, walking 26.2 mile in honor of Ana Valladeres, a wife and mother of 2, who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, in September 2001 and is currently in remission.
